Minor: Public Policy and Leadership

The Public Policy and Leadership Minor emphasizes substantive knowledge, analytical rigor, and research skills. The minor is designed to prepare students for entry-level professional careers in government and the non-profit sector as well as graduate study in law, business, journalism, or other professional programs. Employers and graduate schools recognize a completed minor as indicative of broader preparation than a single degree and a sign of curiosity and willingness to understand public policy. The underlying model of policy analysis enriches and complements a variety of undergraduate specializations.

Students enrolled in the minor learn to analyze the economic and political implications of public policy choices and explore the psychological and cultural aspects of public policy. Batten faculty lead students through an examination of domestic and international policy issues and how distinctions between those issues are crumbling in an increasingly global environment.
