1st Annual Advising Summit: Helping Students Make Connections

Join us in the Newcomb Hall Ballroom on Tuesday, November 19 from 9:30am - 1:30pm. Faculty and staff who work with students as advisors or in a support capacity are encouraged to attend. This event is presented jointly by Academic Affairs and Student Affairs. (This event is limited to UVA employees.)

The goal for this event is to bring our broad student support community together to learn together and build connections among ourselves so that we can best support our students. Our theme is about how we can help students to build relationships that can foster their development and well-being.

The event will feature keynote speaker Leo Lambert, President Emeritus of Elon University. Dr. Lambert is co-author of Relationship-Rich Education: How Human Connections Drive Success in College and a student-facing volume titled Connections Are Everything: A College Student's Guide to Relationship Rich Education. At Elon University, Dr. Lambert worked to build opportunities for students to engage with mentors and faculty and with high-impact experiences such as research, service, study abroad, and internships.
